We aim to identify and support any student with additional needs as early as possible. Our goal is to help each learner develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to reach their full potential — both academically and personally. We call this Individual Excellence.

We work in partnership with students, families, staff, governors and outside professionals to make sure support is effective, consistent and tailored.

We follow the Graduated Approach recommended in the national SEND Code of Practice:
Assess → Plan → Do → Review.

Assess: We identify strengths and challenges through observations, assessments, and conversations with families.
Plan: Using the assessments, observations and discussions through the ‘Assess’ process, we create a plan outlining what support will be provided and what progress looks like.
Do: Teachers and support staff put strategies in place — classroom adjustments, small-group work, or intervention programmes.
Review: We check what’s working, what needs adapting, and next steps.

We work closely with parents, carers and students at every stage. We also collaborate with Lincolnshire County Council, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and other external agencies to ensure every student gets the right level of support.

• Q: How do I know if my child might have SEND?

A: You might notice difficulties with reading, writing, understanding instructions, behaviour, or emotional regulation. Talk to your child’s tutor or Head of Year to discuss your observations. They will discuss possible reasonable adjustment and adaptions with you and this may lead to contact with the SEND team — we’ll listen, assess, and guide you through the next steps.

• Q: What support is available?

A: Support ranges from classroom strategies and small-group interventions to 1:1 work or referrals to external professionals, depending on need.

• Q: Will my child be included in all lessons?

A: Yes. We believe in inclusive education — all students are taught alongside their peers wherever possible, with appropriate adjustments.

• Q: How will I be kept informed?

A: We’ll update you regularly through progress evenings, parents’ evenings, progress reports and passport reviews. Following pupil led reviews of support plans, updates are shared with parents/carers. You can contact the SENDCo anytime with questions.

• Q: What if my child needs an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)?

A: If additional support is required beyond what the school can provide from its own resources, we’ll work with you and the local authority to apply for an EHCP.
